Motorcyclist killed in crash with semi

LAS VEGAS - A motorcyclist was killed after getting into a crash with a semi truck Friday afternoon, Metro Police said.

The accident happened around 1:36 p.m. on E. Carey Avenue and Dolly Lane.  Carey is closed from Nellis to Lamb Boulevard in both directions.

Police say evidence and witness statements indicate a 1993 International Semi Tractor was making a left turn from west to south on Carey Avenue. A 2005 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling west approaching the left turning semi from the rear. As the semi made the left turn, the motorcycle rider overturned and slid into the driver's side of the semi.

The 22-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The 25-year-old driver of the semi remained at the scene and did not display any signs of impairment.

The fatal crash marked the 66th traffic related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
