Murder Convict Sentenced to 19 Years

LAS VEGAS -- A man has been sentenced to 19.5 years in prison nearly 10 years after a woman was murdered at the Moulin Rouge apartments.

Corey Thompson, 43, admitted to shooting Arlene McMillian in the head on Christmas Day 2002 over an argument over their crack cocaine trafficking arrangement, according to the U.S. Attorney for Nevada office.

Thompson pleaded guilty in July of this year to using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to drug trafficking crimes resulting in death.

The case was investigated by the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas Dickinson.
