Nevada Average Gas Price Down 23 Cents in 1 Month

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Nevada's average gas price is down 23 cents from the same time a month ago.

AAA statistics released Tuesday show the average price was $3.16 per gallon, lower than the national mark of $3.30.

The state's most expensive gas is in Sparks, where the average price is $3.36 per gallon. North Las Vegas is on the low end, with an average gas price of $3.09 per gallon.

AAA officials say that gas should be cheaper in 2013 than it was in 2012, when prices were elevated for the first three months of the year because of tension with Iran.

Utah claims the nation's cheapest gas, with an average price of $2.90 per gallon. Wailuku, Hawaii is the most expensive metro area with gas averaging $4.02 per gallon.
