Nevada Day 2017

LAS VEGAS - Nevada Day commemorates the admission of our state into the union on October 31, 1864.  Nevada Day has been celebrated since the 1870's, but wasn't designated an official state holiday until 1933.  Since 2000, the day is observed on the last Friday in October. Here's a look at some Nevada Day activities and freebies for 2017: 

  • Dunkin' Donuts is offering a free medium hot or iced coffee for Nevada Day.  The offer is good at all locations in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson.
  • Nevada residents get free admission to the National Atomic Testing Museum on October 27 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Nevada residents get free admission to the Nevada Stat Museum and Springs Preserve on October 27.
  • The Silverton Casino at Blue Diamond Rd. & I-15 has a free movie marathon from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Movies include: Finding Dory, The Wizard of Oz, The Lego Batman Movie, and The Wedding Singer.
  • The Vegas Golden Knights play a 3 p.m. matinee.  In honor of Nevada Day, Nevada residents received a special price on some lower-level tickets.  The team will honor Nevada with special in-game entertainment.
  • The UNLV Rebels soccer teams will play their final home games of the regular season.  The men play Utah Valley at 4:30 p.m.  The women take on UNR at 7 p.m.
