Nevada early voting ends Friday

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- Early voting for Nevada's primary election is ending.

Early voting began May 24 ends Friday. After that voters will have to vote on Tuesday, Nevada's primary election day, at their regular polling place.

Turnout so far is low. The secretary of state's office says only about 10 percent of eligible voters have cast ballots or submitted absentee ballots as of noon Thursday.

Secretary of State Ross Miller predicts statewide turnout of 15 percent to 20 percent for the primary.

The lowest turnout in recent memory came in 2008, when only 18 percent of eligible voters participated.
