New Diabetes Control System Shows Promise

In early trials, a new implantable and removable intestinal liner has shown promise as a non-invasive means to promote blood sugar control and weight loss.

A doctor inserts it into a patient's small intestine through an endoscopic procedure going through the throat. It creates a physical barrier between incoming food and the intestinal wall.

That alters the way food is processed by the digestive system.
