New Park Opens in North Las Vegas

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- People wasted no time heading out to a major park grand opening in North Las Vegas Friday.

Thousands of people easily filled the brand new Craig Ranch Regional Park. The park offers all kinds of activities to keep families entertained, including basketball, volleyball and tennis courts.

But the main attraction is the skate and BMX area. Officials say there was a long line before it officially opened.

"I've been looking for something to do for like ever and I finally got it," skater Jacob Barks said.

"We've been so depressed here, for so long, for the past few years and we've been pulling out of this now and to have something of this magnitude to come to in North Las Vegas gives the residents something to be proud of," North Las Vegas Councilman Wade Wagner said.

The 170 acre facility will be open daily. There are also community garden plots and a dog park. Funds for the park were granted by the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act.
