New theater allows children to play during movies

DALLAS - A kid-friendly movie theater is hoping to make a splash in the USA.

Cinépolis USA will debut the nation's first movie theater auditorium dedicated to children in Pico Rivera, CA and Vista, CA later this month.

The auditoriums, dubbed "Cinépolis Junior," will feature a 55-foot long and 25-foot high play structure inside the theater.  It includes two main platforms with equipment like stationary pogo sticks, small merry-go-rounds, and a "Fun Forest Bags" filled with foam.

The special auditoriums will feature kid-friendly movies and new types of snacks.  Those snacks include popcorn enhanced with flavors like Cheetos, Chili, Caramel, and Zebra.  Families will be allowed to enter the theater 15 minutes before showtime to play and settle in.  Tickets will also be a little more than regular Cinépolis theaters.

Cinépolis Junior is already in Mexico, Costa Rico, Guatemala, and Spain.  More Cinépolis theaters will open later this year in Dallas, Dayton, Ohio, and Orange County, Florida.
