Newt Gingrich Stumps for Sharron Angle in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS - Former Assemblywoman Sharron Angle spoke before cheering supporters Thursday night. She blamed Senator Harry Reid for Nevada's economic troubles and invoked her most memorable line from last week's debate.

"Fourteen point four percent unemployment, highest foreclosure rate in the nation, and the highest rate of bankruptcy, and we're saying tonight, and on November 2, and every day of early voting, ‘Man up Harry Reid,'" she said.

One topic in particular fired up the conservative crowd. "Now, we need to take back our economy by repealing those policies that have utterly crushed our economy in the last 20 months. The first among them is we need to do is to repeal Obamacare," Angle said.

At the American Solutions' "Jobs Here, Jobs Now" rally, Republican Newt Gingrich said this midterm election will mean a decision between the party of jobs and the party of food stamps. He acknowledged this hotly-contested race has gotten negative.

"I was trying to think of a phrase that will be positive and happy, that we could apply to Harry in a way that we could get a better tone, a more happy tone," he said. "It occurred to me. Just say the word goodbye."

Outside the event, Nevada Democratic Party officials resurrected a tactic they used during the primary. They are now portraying Angle as a chicken for canceling public events when controversy arises and avoiding the press.

"She's just afraid to talk about her extreme and dangerous positions," said Nevada Democratic Party Communications Director Phoebe Sweet. "We're just not going to let her skate like that.  We're not going to let her be chicken."

Gingrich resigned from the House of Representatives in 1998 amid ethics violations and GOP losses in the 1998 election. He is weighing a run for the presidency in 2012. He stayed to answer reporter questions after this speech. Angle did not.
