LAS VEGAS (AP) -- The Nevada Highway Patrol says a 65-year-old motorist who died when his car plowed through a Las Vegas freeway construction zone may have had a medical episode.
The Clark County coroner said Thursday the cause of Frank Leo Drozd's death won't be known until autopsy and toxicology reports are complete.
Trooper Jeremie Elliott says Drozd was pronounced dead at University Medical Center in Las Vegas shortly after the single-vehicle crash about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on southbound U.S. 95 near Summerlin Parkway.
Elliott says NHP investigators think Drozd suffered a medical episode before his Hyundai sedan veered off the freeway and hit construction signs, barrels and a guardrail south of Lake Mead Boulevard.
