LAS VEGAS -- A Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper, who was investigating a single vehicle rollover, was hit by an alleged drunk driver early Sunday morning.

According to NHP, the trooper had been dispatched to check on an accident on I-15 near the Charleston Boulevard exit when his vehicle was struck by a Volvo. The crashed caused both vehicles to spin back onto the interstate which caused closures of three lanes until around 7 a.m.

The trooper and the driver of the Volvo were taken to University Medical Center. The trooper was treated and released and the driver of the Volvo, after being treated, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

The driver of the rollover that the trooper was called to investigate was transported to UMC and is listed in critical condition.
