A 51-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a 2-year-old girl.

North Las Vegas Police said Daniel Garcia-Martinez of North Las Vegas was arrested Friday.  Officers say Garcia-Martinez was driving a 1995 Ford Econoline van when he struck and killed Evelyn Green.

The deadly wreck happened just before 6 p.m. Sunday night near Lake Mead Boulevard and Pecos Road in North Las Vegas.  The accident happened just yards away from where Evelyn lived.

The child's mother said Garcia-Martinez stopped and apologized to her before leaving the scene before police arrived.  She said the suspect smelled like alcohol.

However, NLV Police hasn't confirmed whether or not the accident was alcohol related.

Daniel was arrested for felony duty to stop at the scene of an accident involving death, failure to give information to parties at a vehicle accident, failure to give information to officers at a vehicle accident, and driving without a valid driver license.
