NLV Police release new details about deadly home invasion

LAS VEGAS --North Las Vegas Police have released new details about the attempted home invasion that followed a deadly domestic dispute Monday afternoon.

According to police, at around 5 p.m. Monday, 40-year-old Scott Brown drove to a house near Decatur Boulevard and Washburn Road. Police say he drove his truck onto the front yard and then into the side of the house. He got out of the truck and forced his way into the home.

The 40-year-old homeowner and Brown got into a fight, police said. Brown hit the homeowner with a metal concrete stake. The homeowner then shot Brown several time and Brown cut himself with a knife. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

The homeowner had minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.

North Las Vegas Police say Brown and the homeowner knew each other. The homeowner has not been charged and the investigation is on going.

Metro Police are also involved in the investigation; because before the home invasion and shooting in North Las Vegas, police say Brown stabbed and killed his girlfriend 34-year-old Angela Tamayo-Espinoza.

According to Metro Police, at around 5 p.m. Monday, Scott rammed his car into Tamayo-Espinoza's car in a gated community near Lone Mountain Road and North Decatur Boulevard. Police say after ramming her car, Scott got out of his car and stabbed her 13 times through the window. When emergency personnel arrived, they found Tamayo-Espinoza still in her car. She was taken to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Metro Police are also looking to see if there is any history of domestic violence between Scott and Tamayo-Espinoza .
