NLVPD arrests boyfriend for shooting death of girlfriend

LAS VEGAS - North Las Vegas Police arrested a man in connection with the shooting death of a woman earlier this week.

The woman's boyfriend, 26-year-old Toby Lara, was arrested Thursday by the FBI C.A.T. Task Force.

The 37-year-old woman, his girlfriend, was shot and killed Wednesday in the 3200 block of Lillis Avenue.  When officers arrived to the area, she was found unresponsive outside her home.  Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

NLVPD's preliminary investigation found that the victim, whose identity wasn't released, and Lara argued outside their home before the shooting.

Lara was arrested Thursday night in the 4500 block of Sampson Drive in Las Vegas.  He was booked into the Las Vegas City Detention Center for a charge of murder with use of a deadly weapon.

The Coroner's Office will release the identity, and cause and manner of death of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.

Anyone with information about this homicide is urged to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at 702-633-9111 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
