Alyn Beck, 41, was originally from Green River in western Wyoming. He is survived by his wife and three children who are 14, 11 and 10 months old. Beck was also very involved in the Mormon church.
"The teenagers at the church just loved him. He was a friend of them and a hero. They looked up to him both as a Metro officer, as a father, as a husband, and as an example of how a man should live his life," said Ryan Dennet, a family friend.
Mike Beck says his cousin was dedicated to his family and Mormon faith. He says Beck was a successful high school wrestler who enjoyed helping out at his uncle's ranch and enjoyed woodworking.
The other officer, Igor Soldo, was originally from Bosnia. His whole family moved to Nebraska during the Bosnian War. Soldo came to Las Vegas in 2006 to be a police officer.
His family has posted an obituary on the Palm Mortuary and Cemetery website. It includes pictures and a message from his son Logan.
"It's hard to accept the idea that he was at lunch and somebody came in and killed him because of his uniform or something like that," his aunt, Maida Kapetanovic said.
Soldo, 31, was into sports and had a baby boy who was getting ready to turn one. Soldo, his wife and son were planning to return to Nebraska for the child's birthday.
The funeral for Soldo is set for Thursday. The funeral for Beck is set for Saturday.
