Oilers speed, special teams too much for Golden Knights in 8-2 rout

Edmonton, Alberta - The Edmonton Oilers showed Tuesday night why they were picked by some to win the Stanley Cup this season.

The Oilers defeated the Knights 8-2 and the score could’ve been much worse. Reigning Hart Trophy winner Connor McDavid scored two goals while Ryan Nugnet-Hopkins also tallied two for the Oilers.

Special teams doomed Vegas allowing three power play goals and a shorthanded goal. Chris Neal and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare scored for the Knights.

The Golden Knights next game will be Thursday at the Rogers Center to take on the Vancouver Canucks
