One Dead in Early Morning Accident

LAS VEGAS - Metro Police says a 19-year-old woman is dead following an early morning accident near Maryland Parkway and Bonanza Road.

The crash happened Saturday at approximately 12:30 a.m. Police say an Acura Integra and Ford F-150 were traveling north on Maryland Parkway at a high rate of speed. The drivers of both vehicles lost control as they approached a curve.

The Acura crashed into a light pole. The Ford slid into the median. The driver of the Acura died at the scene. A 22-year-old male passenger in the Acura was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

The 17-year-old male driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries. Police arrested him for driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving.

The Clark County Coroner's Office will identify the victim once next of kin have been notified.
