Metro Police investigated a homicide in the northwest valley Wednesday night.

It happened at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the 4,000 block of Sweeping Glen Street near W. Lone Mountain Road and the 215.

Police say a woman shot and killed her boyfriend following a domestic disturbance.

"She indicated that she was the victim of a domestic violence situation, where she had been struck," said Metro Police Lt. Dan McGrath. "There was not a question of whether she was the one who shot him, but I think her indicating that she had been battered."

Crime scene investigators are working to determine where she was when she shot the man and if he was shot in the back or the chest. Those results could determine whether charges are filed.

The woman requested a lawyer and has not yet been formally questioned.
