UPDATE: Man who barricaded himself in a home taken into custody

LAS VEGAS - UPDATE: Metro Police took the barricaded suspect into custody at 12:30 Wednesday morning.

Original story: Metro Police spent Tuesday night investigating a barricade situation in the northwest near Walter Johnson Junior High School.

According to Metro, a man suspected of driving a utility vehicle into a home is barricaded in someone else's house and is refusing to leave. It's all happening in the area of Ducharme Avenue and Scherer street.

Police officers have evacuated parts of the neighborhood.  Residents have been given the opportunity to leave to Walter Johnson Junior High School, while others have sheltered in place.

It all unfolded Tuesday morning around 6:30 a.m. in a neighborhood near Cimarron and Westcliff. Metro said the suspect, along with another man, stole and rammed the Bobcat construction vehicle into the home of a man dating his ex-wife.

SWAT officers, as well as crisis negotiators, were called in to help resolve the issue.
