Pedestrian Hit By Van on Las Vegas Strip

LAS VEGAS -- A pedestrian crossing Las Vegas Boulevard against a walk signal was critically injured Friday afternoon when a van carrying 14 people hit him.

According to Metro Police, Zdeno Gunka, 69, of Las Vegas, stepped into the road in front of Harrah's casino and was hit by the van about 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Gunka was taken to University Medical Center in extremely critical condition.

Las Vegas Boulevard northbound was shutdown at Flamingo Road for several hours.
