Elderly man killed in crash at Boulder Hwy and Desert Inn

A 71-year-old man is dead following a collision with a vehicle on Boulder Highway near Desert Inn Road.

The 40-year-old driver struck the pedestrian heading southbound just past the intersection, said the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The pedestrian died at Sunrise Hospital, said police.  The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators. Police do not believe the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Investigators are now looking into if the pedestrian was in a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash.

This is the 120th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction of 2016.

The Clark County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the pedestrian.
