Pedestrian Killed in Southwest Valley Identified

LAS VEGAS -- A pedestrian has died after being taken to University Medical Center in critical condition after being hit by a car Thursday evening.

According to Metro Police, the pedestrian, 58-year-old Darrell Stevens of Las Vegas, was in a motorized wheelchair when he was hit by a black sedan just before 5 p.m. near Jones Boulevard and Robindale Road in the southwest Las Vegas valley.

The man was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk, the police said.

This is the 37th pedestrian death in Metro's jurisdiction this year and the 100th fatality overall -- pedestrian, motorcycle or vehicular -- death in Metro's jurisdiction for 2012.
