Pedestrian Struck by Car and Critically Hurt

LAS VEGAS -- A man from the United Kingdom was hit by a pickup truck and critically hurt Tuesday morning in a crash that happened just off the Las Vegas Strip.

According to police, 54-year-old Martin Forster was heading north across Flamingo Road at Linq Lane when a pickup truck that was turning left onto eastbound Flamingo Road hit him.

The pickup truck driver, identified by police as 44-year-old Paul Rosquist, told police he did not see Forester. Rosquist had a green light to turn and Forester was in a crosswalk, police said.

The crash forced the closure of Flamingo Road from Koval Lane to Las Vegas Boulevard for several hours. Eastbound Flamingo Road opened around 2 p.m.

Forester was taken to Sunrise Hospital in critical condition.
