PHOTOS: Lee Canyon taking precautions due to big snow totals

Lee Canyon has put the Sherwood chairlift on hold due to a large amount of snow at the ski and snowboard resort.

The Bluebird chairlift, Rabbit Peak chairlift, and snow tubing will remain open.

In a statement, Lee Canyon wrote, "due to the amount of snowfall we have received this season our natural slide areas are shallow, making slide areas wider."

Ski patrol is working to secure all lower terrain. They will also assess slide areas throughout the day.

"Obeying all ropes and terrain closures is paramount under these conditions. Always stay in designated open areas," said Jim Seely, Lee Canyon Marketing Director.

Winter driving conditions are in effect for Kyle Canyon, Lee Canyon, and Deer Creek roads, according to Nevada Department of Transportation.

Officials urge people heading up to the mountain to use extreme caution. Tire chains or four-wheel drive with snow tires are required.

You can check the current road conditions by calling 511 or visiting nvroads.com.
