Pit bull mix euthanized by county officials after killing 6-month-old girl

LAS VEGAS - A pit bull mix that killed a 6-month-old girl Monday was put down Tuesday afternoon by county officials.

The dog was approximately 9-years-old and the Clark County Coroners Office identified the child as Kamiko Dao Tsuda-Saelee Tuesday morning.

The owner surrendered the dog to County officials Monday. A dog that has attacked and killed a person would not be allowed to be adopted, according to officials.

Metro Police say no criminal charges are anticipated in the death of the 6-month-old girl and officers are calling it a tragic accident.

Police Officer Laura Meltzer says the girl was playing in a walker near the dog before the Monday afternoon attack, which the child's mother tried to stop.

Officers arrived at the house in northwest Las Vegas while the child was taken to a hospital. She was pronounced dead a short time later.
