Police Arrest Mother of Boy Hurt By School Bus

LAS VEGAS -- The mother of the 6-year-old boy who had his right foot run over by a school bus Monday morning has been arrested, according to Metro Police.

Kimberly Marie Russi, 31, of Las Vegas, was arrested and charged with a count of child abuse or neglect with substantial bodily harm and a count of child abuse and neglect.

Russi also goes by the name of Kimberly Dela Cruz.

The boy was waiting near a bus stop for a school bus near North Las Vegas Boulevard and Walnut Road. As a bus approached the student pick-up area, the boy stepped into the road and the bus ran over his foot, the police said.

The boy was taken to University Medical Center and treated for what was described as substantial but non-life-threatening injuries.

The bus that hit the boy was not one that he usually rides, and the bus driver was determined to not be at fault, the police said.
