Police arrest woman for murder

LAS VEGAS - A woman previously considered a person of interest in a fatal shooting last week has been arrested for murder.

Metro Police booking logs and Clark County Detention Center records show police arrested 27-year-old Stacey Thomas for murder Tuesday.

Metro had been looking for Thomas as a person of interest in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Demario Hughes on August 16 at a home near Jones Boulevard and Lake Mead Boulevard.

Police say witnesses saw Hughes in a vehicle with another person before he fell out of the vehicle and on to the ground. Witnesses say a woman got out of the vehicle, walked to Hughes and drove away.

In the arrest warrant report released Wednesday, Thomas told police that she was dating the victim and they got into a fight the night of the murder. She said when the fight became physical, she grabbed the gun, which was on the floor of the car, and it went off while they were both struggling for it.
