Police ID Officer in Pellet Gun Shooting

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police released the name of the officer who shot a 29-year-old man holding a pellet gun as Officer Michael Donovan.

Donovan, 30, has been with the police department since March 2008.

According to police, Miguel Alejandro Martinez pulled a replica Colt .45 pistol when officers responded to a call of a man shooting at his roommate. The police officer then shot him. The replica turned out to be a pellet gun.

Donovan is assigned to Metro's Patrol Division. He is on routine paid administrative leave pending a review of the shooting.
