Metro Police are investigating a deadly Saturday overnight officer-involved shooting near North Las Vegas.

According to police, the shooting occurred at 3:30 a.m. near East Cheyenne Avenue and the I-15 overpass during a traffic stop. Officers conducted the stop on the 5000 block of East Craig Road on a possible stolen vehicle.

The driver and passenger were taken into custody. The second passenger, an armed African American male, exited the car and fled the scene resulting in a foot pursuit with officers.

The suspect was tasered in a desert area and then pointed the firearm at the officers in which the suspect was shot. The suspect was transported to U.M.C. Trauma and later pronounced dead by medical personnel.

This is the ninth officer-involved shooting in Metro’s jurisdiction.
