Police: Man Dressed as Cox Cable Worker Sexually Assaulted Victim

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police are looking for help to identify a man who sexually assaulted a person, and it is believed he impersonated a Cox Communications employee to get into the house.

According to police, the assault happened in a home near Sahara Avenue and Durango Drive. The man knocked on the victim's door at around 2:30 p.m. Dec. 27, police said.

When the victim opened the door, the man forced his way in and sexually assaulted the victim. After the suspect left, the victim called police.

The man is described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s. He is about 5 foot 10 and weighs 210 pounds with a muscular build. He has brown hair, brown eyes, a close cropped beard and possibly a scar under his right eye.

He was last seen wearing a light blue short-sleeved button-down shirt with an emblem on the left side that reads "Cox", dark blue pants and leather gloves.

Detectives have been in contact with Cox Communications who have been cooperating with the investigation.

Cox Communications released the following statement:

"As a company, we are horrified that someone would impersonate a Cox technician and harm one of our customers. We are working closely with Metro to assist in their investigation. Cox has always been committed to ensuring that Southern Nevada residents feel safe with us working in their homes, offices, neighborhoods and on the roadways. All of our Cox technicians and installation partners undergo one of the most rigorous drug and criminal background checks in the country," said Mike Bolognini, market vice president for Cox Communications, Las Vegas.

He added, the company always notifies customers with a phone call and never shows up unannounced.

Anyone with information is asked to call Metro's Sexual Assault Detail at (702) 828-3421, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
