Police Name Suspect in Shooting, Victim Identified in I-215 Crash

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police are searching for a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting Thursday night that lead to a multi-car crash near Eastern Avenue and the 215 beltway.

Police are looking for 27-year-old Joseph Lucero as a suspect in the crime.

Also, the Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 23-year-old Zachary Wayne Girdner of Henderson. The cause of death is multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death is homicide.

Detectives believe Girdner went to Lucero's home near Las Vegas Boulevard and Warm Springs Road at around 7:20 p.m. Thursday. The two got into an argument and Lucero shot Girdner, police said. 

Girdner got into his car and left the scene. He later crashed into several cars at the 215 beltway and Eastern Avenue. 

None of the other drivers involved in the crash sustained injuries. Girdner was transported to Sunrise Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
