Police: Route 91 Festival attendees can retrieve vehicles

LAS VEGAS - One of the hardest tasks Las Vegas authorities must do is to get some of the items left behind in the mass shooting back to their rightful owners.

While crisis teams are working to help, Metro Police announced Tuesday that anyone who left a car parked near the area, can now pick it up.

Metro Sheriff Joe Lombardo said car owners should bring their ID and meet officers at the corner of Reno and Koval to be escorted to their vehicles.

In a desert lot near the Four Seasons and Giles Street, an eerie silence spoke volumes as Brianna Morang and her family waited.

"I had everything in my pocket. I had my keys attached to me. No one was running towards that way. They were all running towards Hooters and the MGM, Morang said."

Morang was one of many waiting at another lot to get her car back, finding herself again at the same place where she almost died.

"We didn't get to pick her up until about 2:30 in the morning by the time she had made her way down to the Thomas and Mack,” Morang said. “So it was a very long night, the adrenaline was going, her hiding, trying to be safe."

Morang said the last few days have been tiring. She works at the House of Blues.

"You can just hear bullets coming, hitting the tables, hitting the chairs, hitting the top of the deck, and getting everyone out,” Morang said. “It was 250 people. No injuries were just incredible."

Because Morang parked so close, it'll be another 24 to 48 hours until she'll be able to get her belongings back.

"I had a couple of friends’ message me and say they got their cars earlier in the day but other than that when we got here, they weren't actually supposed to get their cars somehow they did,” Morang added.

Metro Police ask that if anyone is looking to recover their belongings to the Strip, an update will be provided within the next 24 hours.
