Police Shoot Dog in Downtown Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police shot and killed a dog in downtown Las Vegas on Sunday while responding to a disturbance call.

According to police, Sgt. William Wilson entered a backyard in the 200 block of Earl Street after hearing a shot fired and someone moaning. Police say a pit-bull type dog charged Wilson and he shot the dog once, killing it.

The officer did not find anyone in the backyard but police did find a shell casing different from the one that came from the officer's gun.

Sgt. Wilson remains on full duty pending the outcome of an internal interview.
