Police Shoot Suspect Accused of Fatal Stabbing

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police officers late Monday night shot a man suspected of stabbing a woman to death Sunday.

Police went to a neighborhood near Alta Drive and Rainbow Boulevard after people reported seeing 27-year-old Nathan Benson who police say was the main suspect of a stabbing that killed 44-year-old Shanna Ralston early Sunday morning.

Police spotted Benson, who then fled on foot. When police finally stopped him, Metro says he brandished a knife and charged the officers. Two officers opened fire.

Benson was taken to University Medical Center in unknown condition. The police officers who shot him have been placed on paid administrative leave.
