Protesters: Sheriff should get involved in Bundy dispute

LAS VEGAS -- A group of about 40 protesters gathered at Metro Police headquarters Friday afternoon in support of rancher Cliven Bundy, whose fight with the Bureau of Land Management is getting national attention.

The protesters called on Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie to get involved in the fight. They say he should be protecting Bundy from the federal government.

One of Bundy's nephews was at the gathering. Tyson Houston says he supports the protesters and thinks it is the sheriff's responsibility to get involved and protect the citizens of Nevada.

Houston's mother was one of the people involved in a scuffle with BLM officers Wednesday afternoon. She says she was knocked down by an officer.

The BLM is removing Bundy's cattle because it says he has allowed them to illegal graze on public lands for 20 years.
