A church that started just four years ago in Henderson is helping make sure people in Mexico can enjoy clean drinking water.
Doug Meye is the pastor of Grace Church and when he's not busy preaching the word of God, he and his colleagues are showing how to live it.
"W'ere just trying to do what we believe we're supposed to do," Meye said.
The people of Grace Church are on a mission to change the lives of 10,000 people. Among the people being helped are those in Oaxca, Mexico.
"We've had different missions that have gone down there. We've had medical missions where we've had nurses and physical nurses down there. We've had work missions where we've done projects," Meye said.
Most recently, Meye and company have raised money for water filters. They were able to send 20 high-tech filters to dozens of families in rural Mexico.
"These water filters will give families clean water for a lifetime and when you have clean water you're going to avoid all kinds of health problems," Meye said.
He and his colleagues are not looking to earn a humanitarian award or the Nobel Peace Prize. All they want, is to make the world a better place one good deed at a time.
"It's the kind of thing I believe we're supposed to be doing. We do it in response to what God has done for us. And we believe that, that love that we received is supposed to be shared."
And that is why Grace Church is our American Red Cross Everyday Hero.
