Rediscover Downtown Day on Saturday was an all day event designed to attract locals to the area. Local artists and business owners we spoke to say it's a great idea.
"It's the best thing they could have done for us," said Tanya Watler. "Well it get's them to rediscover art, and find out we have art on Fremont street. Good art. Fine art, graffiti art all types."
Tanya Watler usually sits outside her studio and her business depends on foot traffic. She says events bringing locals downtown is helping grow the art scene.
A piano player at Don't Tell Mama agrees. "I'm all for it, it definitely needs it," said Michael Spadoni, "I've seen a lot of progress within the last year."
The people that run the businesses downtown say bringing more people down is good for the bottom line, and they say that's why they're working together to attract them.
"All these concerts outside are free," said D Las Vegas owner Derek Stevens. "And they're headliners, it's great stuff."
"We have some drink specials for them," said Darryl Laxson the General Manager at Insert Coins. "Some discounted bottle service prices. Just so we can get everybody in the community down here and people outside of Downtown down here to actually rediscover what Las Vegas was all about."
Watlers says it's more about sharing her art.
"To have everybody notice that we have art down here, and see what I'm doing," said Watlers. "It's fun. It's a good thing for us."
