Report: Man admits to police he killed woman

LAS VEGAS - The man accused of killing a woman he had once dated admitted to police he did it because he was angry and depressed over the breakup of their relationship, according to his arrest report.

Brandon Hanson, 31, was arrested two days after 21-year-old Makayla Rhiner's body was found in her garage. She died of multiple stab wounds to her neck and chest, the coroner determined.

The two had dated for three months but Rhiner terminated the relationship in June of 2017.  Witnesses, family and friends said Hanson took it badly and threatened to kill himself.

In the following days, Rhiner's new boyfriend's car and her mother's car were both vandalized while parked where Rhiner lived, the report said.

Although Hanson terminated his initial interview with police, he contacted them later and said he wanted to talk.

Hanson told police, he went to speak with Rhiner on Aug. 3 about the status of their relationship when he encountered her in the garage. He said, she dismissed the ideology of their relationship and he grew angry and stabbed her in the neck causing her death, according to the report.

Hanson is facing an open murder charge.
