Report: Man tried to hit people with car outside school because they threw rocks at him

LAS VEGAS - Metro Police released on Monday the mugshot and arrest report of Clay Green, the man accused of trying to run people over with his orange Mustang near a Las Vegas middle school Friday.

The incident unfolded outside of Walter Johnson Junior High School located at 7701 Ducharme Avenue near S. Buffalo and Alta drives.  Metro said 9-1-1 dispatchers received numerous calls about a fight, an accident and possible shots fired in the area.

When officers arrived at the scene, Green was being held down by numerous people, including a security guard.

According to the arrest report, when officers detained Green he told them that he was trying to run people over because they were throwing rocks at his car.

Officers asked Green what happened leading up to the incident, and he told officers two people walked up to him and told him he needed to leave the property and he had recklessly sped into the driveway of a home.  Green said as he was leaving, two other unknown individuals started to throw rocks at his car, breaking his windshield.

The report said Green got really upset, so he tried to run them over with his vehicle.  When the officer asked Green if he thought trying to run someone over for throwing rocks at his car was ok, he said, “Hell yeah, that’s a show car!”

Also during the interview, Green argued with officers that what he was doing was not attempted murder, but “attempted vehicular manslaughter.”

Green struck numerous cars and nearly hit pedestrians walking in the area.  Witness video shows the car driving aggressively through the area with tires squealing and the engine revving.

At one point, Green’s car hit a Chevy Impala before driving up on the sidewalk taking out a traffic sign.

Metro Police says one of Green’s intended victims was a pregnant woman.  The arrest report said Green drove through a chain-linked fence in pursuit of the woman.  The woman fell, but another person came to her rescue and helped her up.

The woman, along with one other person ran around a van to avoid Green, and that’s when he slammed into the back of the van, the report said.  The impact to the van caused it to hit one of green’s intended victims.

The victims were taken to University Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.

Green was arrested on a charge of attempted murder and battery with use of a deadly weapon.
