Report: Stabbing victim identified fiancé as attacker before death

LAS VEGAS - After a brutal stabbing at an apartment complex, the victim was able to identify the alleged killer before she died, according to an arrest report released Tuesday.

The incident happened on Sunday around 11:47 a.m. near Bonanza Road and Rancho Drive when one of the man's family members received an unusual phone call from him and called 911.

According to the arrest report, when officers arrived at the apartment complex, the Anita Miller, the sister of Steven Miller, was waiting outside the front door.  When officers entered the apartment they found the victim, Glenda Freese, and the suspect, Miller suffering from apparent stab wounds.

The report said, Freese was found lying on the floor next to the bed, and Miller was in a seated position on the other side of the bed.  Freese was still alive, but she was losing consciousness, so one of the officers asked Freese who stabbed her and she told them it was “Steven Miller.”

The officer also asked her if Steven Miller was the same man in the apartment with her and she said “yes.”

Officers said they found a butcher’s knife next to Freese’s body.  Both Freese and Miller where taken to University Medical Center where Freese died from her injuries, police said.

According to the report, when Miller was asked about his injuries, he told officers he was in a fight before admitting that the injuries were self-inflicted; well, except for the one on his hand.  Metro said Miller told officers the injury on his hand was sustained during the fight when his hand “slid on the very big knife.”

After investigating further, and based on evidence at the scene, homicide detectives arrested Miller for murder with a deadly weapon.  He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
