Rescue underway for hiker who fell 40 feet at Red Rock

LAS VEGAS - A search and rescue crew is working to save a hiker who fell from a 40-foot cliff at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, according to police.

The incident began at about 11:15 a.m. on Sunday. The person was hiking Calico Tanks Trail when the fall happened.

The hiker is awake and breathing, according to Lt. Grant Rogers, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

LVMPD Search and Rescue is working to help the hiker and Mercy Air is en route. The seriousness of hiker's injuries is unknown at this time.
