Rider critically injured in motorcycle crash

LAS VEGAS - A motorcycle rider was critically injured in a crash near McCarran Airport early Tuesday morning.

Investigators say the man was driving a stolen motorcycle on Topaz Street, south of Tropicana Avenue, when he lost control just before 1:30 a.m.  The man flew off the motorcycle and slammed into a block wall.

A passing driver found the motorcycle and the rider on the ground and called 911.  No one saw the crash happen.

The rider was transported to Sunrise Trauma Center with severe head injuries.  Investigators said they did not believe the man was wearing a helmet.

Police said motorcycle was reported stolen in the overnight hours of October 21st from a home in the area.
