Righetti found guilty in 2011 murder of Alyssa Otremba

LAS VEGAS - A jury found Javier Righetti guilty of first-degree murder in the 2011 killing of 15-year-old Alyssa Otremba.

Otremba was walking home from a friend's home when she encountered Righetti in a tunnel.  Police said that's when he abducted and sexually assaulted her before stabbing her more than 80 times.

Righetti then burned her body in an open desert area just a few hundred feet from her home, according to authorities.

“I grabbed her; threw her, got her all naked, raped her, and killed her -- and took the phone. Easy money,” Giancarlo Pesci, the prosecutor said as he read part of Righetti's interview during the trial.

The sentencing phase of the capital murder trial will begin Friday at 10 a.m.
