Runners flock to Las Vegas for Rock-N-Roll marathon

LAS VEGAS - Tens of thousands of runners from all over the world are in Las Vegas for one of the oldest marathons in the United States.

The Rock-N-Roll marathon will take place this weekend on the Las Vegas Strip, and a sea of colorful costumes, t-shirts, and creative outfits is expected among the 40,000 runners.

Participants are pouring in from all over the world; that's 73 countries.  Runners from 73 countries.

On Friday, participants were still checking in and picking up race packets up from the health and fitness expo.

Of course, there was plenty of swag to check out. Technology and health information were on display as well.

The Goo-Goo Dolls will headline the marathon's concert Saturday night.

Runners say once you come to this event you're hooked.

"Pretty much Vegas is the place to come," said David Martin, marathon runner. "You party like a rock star; you run, you have fun. You see all the pretty lights, pretty guys, and pretty women. Whatever it is, you find your niche here, and you have a blast."

Back in 008, Martin weighed 325 pounds. He says getting into running helped him achieve a healthy weight and lifestyle.
