School Board Names Interim CCSD Superintendent

LAS VEGAS -- School board members have voted to chose Deputy Superintendent Pat Skorkowski as interim superintendent of the Clark County School District.

Current Superintendent Dwight Jones announced last week he will be leaving his job at the end of March in the middle of a four-year contract.

Jhone Ebert, Pat Skorkowski, Mike Barton and Andre Denson were all announced as candidates during a special meeting of the Board of Trustees Thursday morning. Barton withdrew his name from consideration. The candidates are Clark County School District administrators.

"We've got some bridge-building to do across the community and within the district but we are cohesive," Skorkowski said. "We are moving towards that common goal in trying to be successful in what we do with our students everyday."

Each candidate had the opportunity to speak before board members for five minutes. School board trustees also have voted to allow the four candidates to apply for the job permanently, if they choose to do so.
