I-15 lanes reopen after Semi-truck crash

LAS VEGAS - The driver of a semi-truck is under arrest for suspicion of DUI after troopers say he ran into the crash barrier on I-15 at the Charleston Boulevard off ramp.

NHP has identified the driver as 56-year-old John Cuellar.

The crash caused very long delays on northbound I-15 from Charleston Boulevard to 215, according to Trooper Jason Buratczuk, Nevada Highway Patrol.

The northbound lanes were closed around six hours causing a major traffic back up on I-15 that lasted until around 12:30 p.m.

During the crash, both fuel tanks on the semi broke, spilling between 100 to 200 gallons of diesel fuel over the travel lanes, Trooper Buratczuk said.

Diesel fuel is slick and difficult to clean up, Trooper Buratczuk said.

The Southern Nevada Health District  also respond to the incident because the semi was hauling ice cream in a refrigerated trailer. SNHD officials were needed to check if the ice cream was still good, Trooper Buratczuk said.
