UPDATE: Wind knocks down power poles, trees

LAS VEGAS - Koval Lane opened early Monday morning after being closed because strong winds knocked down three power poles near the LINQ, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

NV Energy is currently on the scene working to fix the problem, Kelly Blackmon of CCFD said.

Metro Police shut down both vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area. The Clark County Public Works Department is also helping with traffic control.

NV Energy spent Sunday evening working to fix numerous power outages around Southern Nevada. Officials said the outages are most likely due to strong winds.

Sunday evening, more than 14,000 customers were without power. NV Energy said the outages were due to a number of main distribution lines which had failed.

Those looking to get to the Holiday Inn Resort on Koval Lane can get there from Manhattan Street off Sands Avenue.
