Shane Ross, councilman's son, sentenced to 8 years in prison

LAS VEGAS - Shane Ross, the son of Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross, was sentenced to eight to 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to a series of robberies.

Ross was arrested in Aug. 2016 following three robberies that occurred in a 15-minute period.

He was eventually tied to multiple robberies, called the "cruiser" robberies, in the southwest part of the Las Vegas valley. Ross used a motorcycle during the crimes.

He agreed to plead guilty in the case and avoid a trial.

The Ross family said Shane had battled addiction problems for some time.
