Small Electrical Fire Damages Las Vegas School

LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas fire official says students have returned to class after a small electrical fire prompted an evacuation at an alternative school.

No injuries were reported, and fire spokesman Tim Szymanski says damage at Variety Alternative School was about $1,500.

The fire was reported a little after 10 a.m. at the school northeast of the busy Fremont Street, Charleston Boulevard and Eastern Avenue crossroads. Szymanski says an electric panel box caught fire on the exterior of a portable classroom.
