Summerlin Parade draws thousands

LAS VEGAS - Independence Day got off to amazing start Tuesday morning with the annual Summerlin Patriotic Parade.

There were dozens of floats and inflatable balloons, along with military members, bands, musical groups and cartoon characters to entertain the more than 35,000 people who were expected to attend the parade.

Sherry Swensk and Brian Loftus of 8 News NOW Good Day served as emcees.

This is the 23rd year of the parade. It is the largest in the Las Vegas valley with more than 70 entries.

More than 2,500 people participated in the parade with more than 500 volunteers from dozens of local schools and community groups.
